One Minute Meditation:
The biggest complaint I hear from my yoga students is that they just don’t have time to meditate! Yet meditation is perhaps the most important aspect of a yoga and wellness program. If we change our preconceived ideas about how long we must meditate or what it should look like, we may find there is a way to squeeze in a few moments of meditation each day after all.
This quick meditation will help you to center yourself and find some inner peace amidst the chaos of everyday life. Not only that, but meditation and proper breathing reduce stress which helps you to decrease inflammation in the body and the toxic load on your organs.
To do the one-minute meditation, breathe in slowly for 15 seconds then exhale slowly for 15 seconds. Then repeat. Yup. That’s it! Nice and easy. Do this simple exercise with total attention. Notice where you are holding or tensing unnecessarily. Allow a tiny pause at the top of your inhale, and another at the bottom of your exhale. Just this, with total awareness, multiple times throughout the day. Sometimes the simplest things are the most powerful.
